Sacred Path Ministry began as a sole proprietorship in September 2005 with Elaine Andres offering spiritual direction to those of all faith traditions. Her private practice grew steadily. In 2006 she began offering Prayer Sabbaths as an invitation for people to engage in silence, stillness, and solitude.
In 2007 the First Christian Church of Albany, Oregon, hired her to teach spiritual discernment and prayerful listening skills to the Board of Directors, the Board of Elders, Program Cabinet, staff and pastor. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) contracted with her to provide spiritual direction, Prayer Sabbaths and training to youth ministers in the Region. In 2008 she expanded the teaching of Reiki into faith communities and a healing prayer ministry training was developed as added support.
From the beginning an annual seminar was offered for spiritual directors in the Pacific Northwest. When The Reality of Healing: Medicine, Prayer, and Research Conference was born, Elaine realized it was time to take another step on her spiritual path. She released the vision and work of Sacred Path Ministry and in March 2010 filed papers to become a religious nonprofit organization in the State of Oregon. A Board of Directors was elected in May and staff hired in October.
Sacred Path Ministry is a 501 (c) 3 organization. For those who wish to financially support us, your donations are fully tax deductible.
We hold these values as central in the ministry we share.
Trust in God: We believe God has called Sacred Path Ministry into being. Therefore, we will trust God to lead and support us in our ministry.
Relationships: We value every person. Therefore, we will strive to listen to the concerns they share and to honor and respect the gifts each person offers.
Prayerful Spiritual Discernment: We recognize the voice of God speaks through every person. Therefore, we will use prayerful spiritual discernment and seek consensus as our primary process for decision-making.
Service: We believe every event we offer is an invitation for mission. Therefore, we serve the local community where our events are held.
Respect for Creation: We believe God invites us to care for all of creation. Therefore, we will seek to practice ways to sustain the earth in our events as well as in our office.
